Living my life at this inbetween
The place somewhere between the life I've known
and the life I'm now forced to live
The memories of you taunting me
haunting me between the state of light
and the state of darkness, struggling
to wake up from this dream
knowing that I'll lose you forever
but not able to take the ache in my heart anymore
Author notes
... sometimes you have to leave the pain behind, walk into the next stage of pain, really feel the grief so you can learn to heal...
I dont know what to do.. how do you move on when someone has left you behind.. when they throw everything you ever gave them, your time, your heart, your love.. back in your face?

Love yourself.
If someone has left you that is their loss. I've read your work and I've seen what you contribute to this site. You have a great contribution to make to the world. Get with it!
God gave us words to banish sorrow
Write a poem today and more tomorrow.
Thank you for what you have already done and my best wishes for what you will do in the future.

You cry and pray and write. You look back only as many times as it takes to make you realize what was your fault, and what was absolutely not.
Then you accept that what's done is done, despite the regret, and that you can do nothing but grow from it. Then you find a good friend, who will ask you everyday 'how are you, today?' just to cover that subject, and will inject you with confidence that everything will improve, and you believe that friend. And just keep believing, and squelching those thoughts of the someone left behind, until...it ceases to exist.
I know how you feel. This poem was written just for me, it seems. Many days seem like nothing but 'inbetweens"....
Well done piece!

seems like a personal piece of your heart. my favorite poems are made of that heart stuff. at first i felt the repeated use of "between" was too much for a short poem. but, of course, i did not settle for first impressions. after a second (and dare i admit third and fourth) read the use of between takes on a much needed role and almost a life of its own. in fact you managed to turn this poem into a powerful write with a few simple quirks. i haven't read anything else from you yet so i shall hold off on the brilliant tag but brilliant is in the ballpark.

I think the use of the word "between" is really to add drama to the rest of the poem. It's like being in a place that is neither here nor there. An "Inbetween" of sorts. (ie the title)

I am brilliant... lol sometimes!
Thanks for your comment!!
