44 year man and on the verge
of your average mid-life crisis
seeing the world today as nothing
but damnable
he spent most of hist time in and out of a office space
with several bosses
all of which were passive-aggressive, undercutting bastards
and with no hobby
no wife, friends
pets or parents
it's no wonder he would work himself
into madness
he wanted to reach back to the only time in his life
when he had true happiness
instead he reached for his trusted revolver
and targeted the highest rated radio station in New Zealand
with what was left of his common sense and
a homemade bomb
he walked right in the front doors of station WTDRX: The Flavor
and ended the life of a security guard, who had been bored with the job
until that day, and a receptionist at the desk was left
with a hole in her neck
the years Robert spent serving the army served him well
up to the 7th floor, he made his way to the deejay
sneaking in the studio like a chilling drift
he fired his two warnings into the ceiling
a detonator ready in his locked palm
he demands were made clear
as he told the told the deejay who was having a staring contest
with the gun's barrel
"I have a song request. Is that okay?"
the deejay stuttered like a turntable as he replied.
"Yes, Of course, man, uh, sir. What is it?"
Robert's voice was stunningly charismatic
for a man that acts like a mouse
all those years of silence and murmurs must have preserved it
"I want you to play 'Rainbow Connection' by Kermit The Frog."
to the salvation of the humble deejay
the studio's audio banks did have the exact song Robert
so dearly desired to listen to
and when he did listen to it
playing over the loudspeakers
it was 100 percent serenity
Robert felt the beautiful numbness that comes with
the feeling of being completely happy
which is something he has been in a long time
not since his childhood
could he ever smile
but now he was leaking with tears like Niagara and
laughing so heavily it seemed like he bones were going to break
and it was in this state of bliss that Robert
promptly fired the last bullet in the barrel
into his own skull
he said his last words to the deejay,
"Thank you."
Author notes
Yes, This is based on a true news story I have the pleasure to have read. I actually would love to make this story into a screenplay. Sometimes writing a story in poem form helps me when it comes writing it into a script or a novel. I think it helps get all the main idea I have in my head played.
I hope you enjoy and as much as I enjoyed reading the original story.

I really like how you told the reader the story.
The fourth stanza is the most surprising one, no doubt.
Well done and good luck!
