Hair hanging across her face, shielding her from the world
Eyes rimmed in kohl and black, rouged lips
A masquerade
Outside she is beautiful, stunning, kind
Inside her heart slowly corrodes
She’s a mess
Self doubt consumes her, destroying inner beauty
Leaving nothing at all,
But a shell
Returning home she sags, leaving the facade
Tears ruining the delicate beauty
What is left?
She can be saved, found again, helped
She only has to learn, what’s inside
Is her.

I appreciate your time and entry. We indeed do all need to hide sometimes. I wish you would have shown more than you told. Best wishes.

"what's inside is her." Yes. Hard to learn though if you keep putting on a front and acting the way you think people want you to act. That's a problem for the woman in the poem and I hope she does find herself.
Good luck with it.
