I watched you walk away as you etched out, the decades of love we had shared
You walked out of my life, without a second thought
Leaving me alone, desolate, despairing
For how does one win back, a mind already turned?
The cold night when you left me, you passed, leaving
If only I had the power to bring you back, to let your humour and love
Once more fill your earthy shell
Rather you were lost, away from where you could be caught
A butterfly.
Tempting, teasing, always out of reach
But always in the forefront of my mind
How can you be gone if you are here in my vision?
The nights I suffered without you
Reaching for you, speaking to you, without realisation
That you would never hear another word I spoke
Never again feel loves sweet caress
Sincere goodbyes, farewells, adieus
What words can ever be used
When an eternity of forever alone
Awaits

Your author notes made me laugh
This was a good take on the prompt and a well penned poem
