The Comfort of a Stranger

Sometimes,
it's easier to let it all out,
all your secrets,
all your wishes,
all your guilty pleasures
to a complete stranger.
Someone who doesn't know your past,
someone who can observe you for you,
not for your friends nor your family,
not for your school nor community,
all they see is you.
They can't acuse you of not being yourself
or being "out of your character".
They don't know you.
You have permission to reveal the other side of you,
the side that has been seeking exposure,
too afraid to be recognised,
fearing judgement of the public,
for this other side may not fit into the mould that has been chosen,
though not necessarily by you.
The mould created by the expectations that have been determined for you.
Expectations from friends
from family,
from strangers,
determining your worth.
