Society

From the womb of today’s human life a society sprouts
Living in shackles of pretense locked within walls of misery
Sipping ego through lying straw quenching blood thirst for deceits
While concocting conspiracy theories to start bloody wars
On the luscious bed of seven deadly sins under the umbrella of so called leaders

Author notes

anytime, I think of today's society we have created...

Quite good. The last line will linger in my head for a while. I can only wonder why you chose such a bright and happy background for such a very dark poem. it doesn't seem to fit, although I guess you were going for irony. I don't think it works, but that's your call.

I really like the poem though, it is very powerful. You use great poetic language in this.

Thanks for entering my contest and letting me read it.

honestly i kind of agree with you, it is a way the world works and sadly it shows no sign of stopping, but keep it flowing and good luck in the contest

    SO TRUE!!!!!!!

I see so much in society today that is tearing us down. Not enough honesty, no love, only greed and selfishness.
