The Innocent

Missing image

We gather this harvest

without reckoning,

wildly thrusting it deep inside

our burning hearts

as each season revolves,

evolving

into unknown territories.

We embrace our belongings

with a sense of familiarity

& comfort,

soothed by the essence

of these gifts

& then ~

we mourn their sudden loss,

torn asunder

by tragedy & terror.

We must realize

the necessity

of gratitude & grace,

for we cannot lose

what we have already gained ~

it becomes one with our spirit,

forming sacred memories

to carry with us

upon this journey

under starlight

which shadows cannot hide.

Yes, all is precious to us,

even blessings in disguise,

caught unaware ~

what matters most

is that we are always safe

within the storm

because love lingers...

  • Out of the shadows

We must realize the necessity of gratitude & grace, for we cannot lose what we have already gained ~ it becomes one with our spirit,

Come by my author's page sometime, if you get a chance. I have a "poem" (more of a list, but posted as a poem) "pinned" there with an entire list of published AP Poets that are also my Friends & favorites who punctuate quite well. I also helped edit quite a few of their works On my page, too, I have a "list" of my own AP favorites ~ at one time, the AP system's favorites list would only hold 50 at a time. I worked on my college's newspaper & literary magazine, besides being a college librarian for over 12 years...& I also did reporting, editing & proofreading for various construction news agencies for over 12 years...so...yeahhh...I kinda like punctuation...& grammar...& spelling...& vocabulary...& language skills...& etymology...& people who care about such things. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for comin' by. May 2009 be kind to you & yours. Wanda

words of wisdom soaking in the nectar of love ...

you are right, we are attached to the ESSENCE of objects we cherish, and tend to confuse it with the FORM ... believing the objects are the source of our happiness while it is the Source Itself that is our happiness ...

thank you for this enlightening spiritual and poetic gem, dearest wanda, I have been missing your precious poetic pointers in my contests ... happy to read you again ...

    pure heart

you always capture whatever you write about and this is no exception
you can sense the strong will even when stretched beyond the limits of the unexpected
and you always do this with grace and poetic device intact
not an easy task to do it once and you do it over and over again
    amazing
    and the poem is too

    best wishes
    peace and hugs

    Wonderful

This is a very beautiful piece, Mrs. Wanda. You are very observant that what we have experienced stays with us even when things are changed. So it is and so it will always be.

The master delights us once again.

No truer words spoken than those by one who feels from the heart. It has been my greatest honor to meet you, dear Wanda and the many others here in AP that have enlightened my mind, shed tears with me, made me smile and laugh with joy. I wouldn't have traded one minute for all the gold or silver in the world. It is rare to find such friends in one lifetime.
Blessings to all that have crossed my path, are crossing and will be crossing in the future.

    "for we cannot lose
    what we have already gained"

To me that is the essence of this poem; what we've gained is always ours....the grace, the sense of belonging, the love, the life skills - all of it. And it's all here on this page. A beautiful write filled with a sense of spirituality and depth. This is your forte, my friend. One can only recognize the beautiful if one carries it - and you do
