Sorrow Leads To Tomorrow

As I cry out to you in humbleness,
The tears welling up in my eyes.
I begin to know I am not useless,
The destiny to come rolls with the tide.

Alone in that secret place seeking you,
Is perfecting the spirit within me.
Strengthening me to do what I need to do,
While waiting for promises that will come to be.

You know the whispers of my heart,
For you spoke your word in there.
There has been that brokeness that imparts,
I have even invited despair.

Here come the tears pouring down as it rains,
Overwhelming spirals of emotions.
As I go through this night of growing pains,
Only longing to hear the calming sounds of the ocean.

I sit here left abandoned yet not alone,
You were acquainted with being in my place.
Unity is the footstool to your throne,
The wonder working power that leads to grace.

Sorrow can now turn to Joy,
As I keep receiving a new day.
I can stand bold now never to be coy,
Tomorrow is Hope in a new way.

This longing is to be like you,
To know that I already am just that.
Something about me will now show through,
When I was crying the whole time with me you sat.

I receive your enlightened embrace,
The love you have for us all is neverending.
You are honored and never to be replaced,
Tomorrow brings a new level in mending.

You went through so much too,
The rejection was far too great.
Truth says there is none like you,
We can only be thankful that we relate.

Author notes

I believe this expressed a hope when things look so uncertain and it has touched those in my prayer group to anyone I gave it to, just want to see where it can go.

    very good balanced poem

I read over this poem with stillness and understanding. The ever changing lines of feelings become wrapped in the acceptance of another . No person can take the place of that, I get the feeling here im on top of a mountain looking down wondering if I am stronger than ever. Its like a fight to be seen and approved, at the same time you are who you are, being yourself in the words is both fear and joy losing a loved one can also be a part of the souls searching for answers. Unity meaning sticking by no mater what a great love for someone also. To be like the person can also mean great independence in who you are not how people see you, and so I think with an open mind here of great loss at the same time breaking down walls that have been in the way for years. So the past has no shadows, but the future is at hand with you a lovely way to write as if your also writing for another at the same time, great poem this with also the balance of both happiness and sadness but also joy also. Thank you God bless.

You have put so much into this poem, and it has powerful unity--the crux of the Christian life-walk--our encounters with the Lord, sharing His pain, and experiencing His strength, staying with His purpose. The first stanza is my favorite.

    An enjoyable piece...

An enjoyable piece; could really relate to the following stanza:

Alone in that secret place seeking you,
Is perfecting the spirit within me.
Strengthening me to do what I need to do,
While waiting for promises that will come to be.

There's certainly nothing wrong in wanting to be perfected by The Spirit and waiting on the promises of God, by standing on His Word; nicely done! --Joe

I love too much about this and can relate to your words. It is so inspiring to know that we are not alone, even in our sorrow when we feel most alone.
    It's just wonderful.

  • Fantastic

Thank you for sharing and also for reading my poem. This is a wonderful write and a reminder of how awesome our Lord is. Sometimes, it's easy to forget that Jesus went through everything that we're going through. He's felt every emotion and there is some solice in that.

mmmm this is good writing! touched my soul. i love it when Jesus can be seen as the human he was and also as the loving Creator. i don't think i'll ever fully understand the trinity, but Jesus is all things in all ways, friend, brother, father, and so so much more. here you've captured different faces of his being and it is such a comfort, cause he is here for us all, like he was for you in this poem. really lovely. makes me feel close to him reading it. thank you for this.

  • Comforting

I like the flow of the words they are very calming.

  • this feels cathartic - for the writer and readers alike. my favorite part:
You know the whispers of my heart
For you spoke your word in there
    thanks for sharing. - MaryJo

  • I just love your poems they are truley Gods spirit within I'm speechless.

I like the way this verse stood out there has been that brokeness that imparts

and (verse15.) As I go through this night of growing pains. Great job!

Wow. I love how you write! Your rhyme is perfect and seems effortless! I especially love this line : "You know the whispers of my heart
For you spoke your word in there." Beautiful!

  • Thanks for the encouragement...sometimes we don't see ourselves how important it is to be encouraged...your poem leads and lights that path...lots of love to you

  • good,honest and truthful

I think this is good, honest and truthful by the words that you have put. Some of the lines run into each other and others don't which kind of spoil the rhythm a bit. They are the end lines of the first four verses. However apart from that you are quite a good poet and this speaks of truth from God.

    Gorgeous Testimony

This is so beautiful, SisD. With a wonderful, rather lyrical movement, you have taken us from the despair we all have experienced, if not once, many times in our life, and brought us to the place of peace and love that we could find only in our Father and His Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

Personally, I feel this glorious piece should garner the gold; for, indeed, it is a Masterpiece.

    Luv & Hugs, SisBon

This is a beautiful piece of spiritual poetry. It's something every one can connect to on some level. The ability to do that is hard to come by, sometimes. I am very impressed with this piece. It is not only well written, but a genuine presentation of spiritual conflict. Bravo! It truly is beautiful!

I find this to be one of the most powerful and Spiritual poems I have read on AP.
And when we think of the suffering we do here on earth compared to the agony and pain He suffered for us and the Sacrifice He made for our Sins.
And the Joy to know that he is with us always and the Promise that He will never leave us.

In this write you have captured the joy of the Love the Mercy, and the Grace of our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ.
    May God Bless you always.

You just said a future line

I loved your comment to me...maybe you could work it into a poem...It's almost like the pain in my heart is a gateway for Him to come in, with love and comfort like no other can provide. I think you too are definately one of my favorites...thank you for that, in fact I have you added on that list.

    I love this!

We truly have a friend in Jesus. Such a comfort. I have also found that during my times of despair is when I have felt the Lord so strongly...it's almost like the pain in my heart is a gateway for Him to come in, with love and comfort like no other can provide.
