if you shoot me then
i'll be bullet proof
when you shatter me
i'll be unbreakable
if you tell me to go
i'll already be where i'm headed
because i'm already there
if you destroyed me now
i'd be that much closer
to creation
if you wind me up
i won't need any turns
if you toss me to the pyre
you'll never know why my heart burns
if you killed me right now
i'd be happy the rest of my life
and i'd get to spend it
in an instant eternity
if you organize it once
you've spent all day on chaos
if you do it twice
you've destroyed order
if you argue all day with logic
then you'll have no reason
to kill a man
and take it all for the season
now someone tell me why
it's better this way
when the grass was already blue
our side was greener
and red's my best hue
i'll be bullet proof
when you shatter me
i'll be unbreakable
if you tell me to go
i'll already be where i'm headed
because i'm already there
if you destroyed me now
i'd be that much closer
to creation
if you wind me up
i won't need any turns
if you toss me to the pyre
you'll never know why my heart burns
if you killed me right now
i'd be happy the rest of my life
and i'd get to spend it

Author notes
the whole point of this is that once something happens it has lost its power. humans are creatures of anticipation, reality is such an inhibitor in that aspect. but many things carry this power, there are so many things we do that we don't even understand. when you look closely it's silly. bulletproofing 101: a dead man can't be killed by bullets
and how do we make men dead?
