I wish I had a rubber heart
synthetic, firm and round-
that would not break, or fall apart
when dropped upon the ground.
When perils in the shadows, wait,
and panicked hearts all thud-
I'd find comfort in my fate..
if rubber pumped my blood.
There'd be no danger in a fall,
and fear... not an ounce!
For if some heartache came to call
I would not break, but bounce!
If my ticker had the spring,
to rebound with some grace
I'd soar upon Love's highest wing,
and laugh in heartache's face

Your lyrical poem has a wonderful way of revealing that love can cause distress but that it's worth pursuing more than anything, Mom always said necessity was the Mother of Invention and oh boy, a rubber heart that would bounce back and laugh whilst setting itself apart from an ache of the heart sounds super to me.
If my ticker had the spring...it wouldn't recoil...but continue to sing!
Bravo!

I love the ideas in this poem - you've expanded on the 'rubber heart' here perfectly in situations how it would respond in comparison to 'normal hearts', I like how it does not break & springs back; rebounds with grace. The reader feels a sense of this being written all in fun but understands and reminds us of just how fragile 'hearts' and feelings are at the same time
