When the cool, crisp air of October
Tosses the harlequin leaves around
You know it is Halloween
The skeletons rattle their dried-up bones
in a ghostly, macabre dance
In the graveyard you won't stand a ghostly chance
For the ghouls and imps and all the Devil's cohort
Party till the break of day
gorging on all sorts of gory treats
The moon casts an eerie yellow flourescent glow
Against the velvet black October sky
And from above you can hear the distant cackles
Of witches on their way to a Samhain gathering
When you are greeted by the flourescent grin
Of a creepy Jack-O-Lantern
And as you trample through the night
Your mind plays evil tricks on you
For Every tree is a phantom
Trying to capture you
And the wind becomes a sinister spook's howl
Your heart races upon the hooting of the great Horned Owl
You best be on your guard
Against all unsightly sounds and sights you'll see
On this horrible night of nights they call Halloween

I like the month of October but I do not like Halloween. So I really did not get into this poem. It is not that your a bad writer or anything. Your writing style is awesome. I just didn't get into it. Thank you for entering my contest

Very though provoking
Nice flow, and yet there's a rythm to it, good use of words, I'd watch the consistency of language though. If you're going to use words like harlequin and macabre, try to maintain that throughout the rest of the poem. But I like this poem alot. Great Job
