Silence

When I withdraw to still my mind
in silence, there I hope to find
that thoughts retreat in reverie,
no me in this eternity.
Reflection in this empty place
reveals no mind, but only space
attentive to each human sound:
when first I sought, then I was found.

I can see why maa choose this piece as golden,
for you reflect the wisdom of ages, the simplicity
of it all, "...then I was found."

Thank you for searching up this old one, M-C. Sometimes I need to be reminded why meditation practice is essential to the well-ordered life. Cheers! M

    So touching ...

and you have shared a key to a room that needs to be opened with reverence daily ... while the windows face out upon all there is to be thankful for. Your poem is one that I feel a kinship with and sure thank you for sharing these thoughts in such good form. Bless you,
    jy

Thank you Joy - I am grateful for your comment and applause. It is a bit amazing that so many find so much in what is essentially an empty space!

    Congratulations

    A well earned gold cup!

"...when first I sought, then I was found."

This is so true on many levels... when "i" seeks it often finds only "i".... when "i" seeks in the depth of silence it finds "I"... when "I" see(k)s, It finds (projects) Itself.

A sweet write from a shining soul.

    Be ever bright....

    Rahad

I did well not to invite you to co-host this contest, dear margaret - otherwise I would have missed your wonderful entry !!!
while reading your words, inside of me, something said : "yes ! yes ! yes !"
of course, this is not a very sophisticated or subtle response from my side, but what can I do ?

not only have you mirrored the essence of the quote in a masterful way, you have also offered us an insightful expansion of the spirit through your words ... they are not "intellectual concepts", but spring from experience ... this is exactly what I was hoping to read in this contest ...

"no me in this eternity." ... yes ! yes ! yes !

    In his Silence ...

the din of the mind and this world become muted ... and the soul finds itself in Him, without intention. What timeless thought spilled itself through your pensive pen ...

    Perfect.

Thank you Myra! it is a rare thing, but when I stop the mind, there is something that makes the time worthwhile.
