I Sometimes Get To Wondering...

When would the prize be worth the price?
And how can you know for sure?
Would just a dollar less suffice,
Or is the answer more obscure?

And what if it’s not what you’d hoped?
A not so perfect occasion.
Would you lose that for which you’ve groped,
Perhaps it takes more persuasion?

I’ve often just wondered a while
Upon these answers I seek.
Maybe I was tricked by her guile…
Could I really have been so weak?

I’d rather that not be the case,
So then further I shall delve.
Hoping that truth would have more grace,
But too soon did the clock strike twelve.

Perhaps tonight I might be done,
Another day holds the key.
But for how long can this rope run,
Before its threads must then break free?

Well, I suppose that in the end,
You cannot find perfection.
A stick may only so far bend,
‘Fore it snaps from lost affection.

Author notes

A fairly decent poem that took a little bit of a twist on the prompt. Hopefully I didn't stray too far away and I hope you enjoy it!

A good poem on the prompt, you used rhyme very effectfully to speak of endurance well. Thank you so much.

hmm. that was very interesting. kind of confused me, but i think that's because i'm half asleep right now. i liked the flow though and the parts that made sense to me in my semi-comatose state were very profound, and i really enjoyed reading it. keep up the good work.
