The thin man grasp her in a tender
hug, hands touch softly to quickly
exchange wrinkled ten dollar for the
small plastic bag. Her smile glows
while fumbling through paper bag to
recover a length of rubber tube and spoon.
Frozen as a picture, to keep life from
spilling; an apple with syringe shoved
in it...the rubber tube pulls tight as
vein bulge ready acceptance for magic
potion she craves.
Quivering a needle grouts through
swamps of pavement into the waiting arm.
Excited her trembling now calms, eyes flutter
to relieve urgent need. The local house
holds a date to ease this passion that
owns her body and soul...she perfumes
the trade and discard used needle and condom
in an alley. Scarlet beauty once guarded
to be held scared from youth have become,
nothing more than the kiss of emerald.

Powerful Poem
Your words draw the reader into the young woman's plight. So sad to know so many go through this to get their daily fix. Powerful topic to write about. Stunning imagery brings your words to life.
Definitly a winner here.
Thank you for sharing your talent dear friend. Hugs and Smiles.
