Haiku Humour

Stems climb
Leaves spread -
Why(Y) en masse?

Flowers yellow
Gourd green?
Sir, I'm a cucumber!

Author notes

What do I know about haiku? Not much, just the basics but that does not stop me from writing one.

En masse...That is funny, even if the play on words did spell my name wrong.

Yes, that used to be Ima's joke, when someone suggested he was a man he'd look outraged and say, Why Sir, I am not a man, Ima Cucumber!"

Yeah, he's a few bricks shy of a full load.

    Thanks for entering the contest.

      Hi Fearless and Intrepid

Hope I won't be forced to read your fiction.

    I "see" (Y) differently, eh!

Me, too friend Lee... always "flunking" in my assignments In Basic Haiku.
Hope, Myron, will not give up...

But this is really good, humorous Haiku.

    Hope you win!

      Hi summer

Thank you. "Flunking" in basic haiku does not mean you cannot write. There is too much confusion about haiku; 17 syllables versus 10 to 12, simple and direct words versus big words and metaphors and haiku with layers of meaning. Be like me, write the way you like from the heart. myron will not give up.

p.s. That's why I don't attend class. I am too lazy to do my assignments and am sure to flunk.

    Lee, I love it!
    It captures the sprawling
    growth of the vines,
    and celebrates Yem's
    frequent collaborator!

      Hi Aesthete

Thank you. I hope they don't take it too seriously.
After all, I, too, only know the basics of haiku.
