I wish I could free myself
from the heartache thats growing inside.
Living in my own shadow of hate
because I can't get over you when I've tried.
How come the nights get so hard?
nightmares control my dreams.
And I can't rid myself of sadness
as it consumes myself it seems.
The very scent of you still lingers,
just like a deeply cut scar.
A couple that were once so in love
fell short of a falling star.
Like a memory that never fades
you will remain a part of me.
And as I cling to life in vain
I feel stronger than I used to be.

this was based on my feelings towards my current ex and how breaking up has effected me. hope u enjoy

Something I can certainly relate to here;
"Like a memory that never fades

I feel the emotion here was almost cut short, possibly that usual hindrance of poetry to motion. Nice write. Thank you for your entry & Best wishes in the contest!
