Where once melody of sighs kissed our hearts
But our skies have darkened with souls remote
As branches crack and bleed, essence departs.
There was a time when we danced with passion
With fiery souls, steps in perfect tune
No recognition, dance out of fashion
Only ashes remain of lover's swoon.
So here's to us playing this dying song
For time and place no longer synchronise
But neither you nor I were in the wrong
And what once was strong are now broken ties.
For what we shared let us have one more dance
A last reminder of a fine romance.

Gorgeous and well written.
Well thought out, meaningful and absolutely beautiful. It inspires me personally, in the sense, that I might actually try my hand at an English styled sonnet form again. (I've been teetering back and forth on it.)Good luck in the next round.

This beautiful Sonnet has brought me to tears, as it has vividly reminded me of how lonely I really have been of late. Thank you for reminding me that I'm part of the human race. Lamenting lost love is better than imagining it. Your Gold Trophy was well d

Thank you for your entry
This is something different than what I am used to seeing from you. A tenderness but passion and sorrow as well. Though maybe it is just the prompts that I have always set. I enjoyed this in any sense.
Really well done with the format of the sonnet. The syllable count was right on. Good flow and the rhyme scheme was well developed.
I encouage you to keep writing to read and comment.
You have been chosen to proceed to the next round. Once the next round contest is up you will receive a link to that contest.
God Bless

This is a very sad little poem of the rememberence of love lost. The rhyme and flow are well done. They only flaw was a minor typo in the third line of the second stanza. If you care to repair it, I will read again when I judge the poem.
Thanks for entering and best of luck in the contest.
