Searching for Mom

It's the summer of nineteen sixty two
Mom's gone, Dad's mad, and I'm hurting inside.
So, I'm packing my bags and leaving.
Somewhere out there she's waiting for me.
And when I find her we'll be happy again

The suitcase I carry is big and heavy
And it's hard to carry the flower too.
But the journey is too important...
I'll leave them here beside the road.
When Mom sees them she'll understand.

This is such a sad take on the prompt and it headed nowhere near the direction I thought it was going to go in. Nicely done. Best to you in the contest

Excellent job it fits the prompt picture well. Sad and at the same time hopeful of finding one you love. I very much enjoyed reading your poem and hope to read more. God Bless,Jo-Ann

I think this simple poem was fantastically put. I had a peek at the image and I think you did a great job with this. I found it a very touching write. The simplicity to it makes me want to read it over and over again.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

P.S. One part I didn't get was how mom could see them and understand if she's gone. Then if the character does find her, she still won't see them because they've been left in the road somewhere. Unless you mean gone as in heaven and she's looking down watching it. Just a thought.

      Thank you SilverScent,
You ask how could his mom see them and understand.. You should know, in the eyes of a child mom knows and understands everything.. In reality of course, if she did see and recognize the suitcase she'd have a panic attack and wouldn't stop searching until she found him. One would hope anyway. In anycase that would suit the boy just fine. I picture the boy to be about 11 years old.

Also the road here would most likely be near his home and the boy has no idea how big the world really is so expects her to perhaps drive by soon.
