‘…Yes… I was once a flower…’
-I tell everyone who passes by,
With a flowered vase in their hands
And with tempting chocolates,
And I remember… ‘I was once, a flower...’
I was also gift wrapped, like them-
Like these other roses-
Into an ecstasy of meeting her
Like these chocolates-
Wearing golden ornaments
Waiting to be removed, and tasted,
But like a sad flower,
Time chose to pluck me, to count
Count the moments I waited,
All in the temptations-
‘…She’ll be here…sure…
…she won’t be here…sure?...’
And all that remains unsaid
‘…I was once, your flower…’
