Strange habits
give new meaning
to the phrase
“tastes like shit”

Common palm civets, weasel-like animals,
hailing from Indonesia eat the raw, red coffee beans (only the outer part of the cherry, not digesting the inner bean),
they then excrete them to make the world’s MOST expensive coffee, which costs around $50 a cup, $600 or upwards for a pound;
apparently this process removes the bitter flavor. The beans are picked by locals and sold.
called Kopi Luwak - kopi is their word
for coffee; luwak is their name for the civet.

Aboomer, a marvelous poem, full of beans, uplifting and refreshing - and I haven't even succumbed to the rich taste and caffeine portal yet! (Lol).
Thing is, I went from a tea drinker to a serious coffee drinker just over a year ago, but now you've prompted me to reconsider to the 'limey' traditional imbibe.
Footnote:
My extremely old, small, shabby, desk-drawer dictionary states the civet to be a 'cat-like' animal. So now, Aboomer, my mind is thinking, "Catweasel", sooooo very funny, especially, as one tagline phrase is, "Tea an' cakes, Aunt Sally!"
(You might need to 'Wiki' tv series, Catweasel' - think one word - to share my humour, lol.
Have to go grab a cup of coffee now and I'm praying it doesn't taste like the proverbial 'cat's piss!'

I must say I never knew about this. huh... and to think that I'm a coffee drinker.. but I don't & won't pay $50 for a cup of 
not in your life...I love this poem so much.. lol I got a really good laugh from this and it makes me wonder do the people know, the ones who drink this expensive coffee, do they really know where it comes from?? it definitely gives a new meaning to that phrase, sheds a lot of light on this subject matter...

No, we'd never pay that much either! - we just had a fit last week because a place we eat at raised their coffee to $1.60 a cup!!! We'll drink water.....lol

well I pay about 1.99 for a large Iced Coffee.. and its a little bit more than 32ozs.. and of course that keeps my caffeine intake to about normal.. I have 3 a week..
I had espresso once . a little and that's was bitter blah.. nasty nasty.. unless of course you mix it with a whole bunch of sugar and cream...and lots of flavor, kills the bitterness..

our $1.60 cups are VERY SMALL - demitasse' type cups - highway robbery!!! ..lolol.....fortunately, there are refills, but I think they limit it to 3 (but more than 2 makes me hot-flash anyways! ...lololol)
