Winds drive waves
Ripples instantaneous,
Float on surface
Create majestic moment of river.
Mighty is known through waves,
Tides rise and fall
Unbroken through time,
Where does trough and crest gone
after becoming part of onward flow.
Story of life
reflects in wave motion,
Turbulence underlay surface,
Beneath calm waters placid.
Moment is life
Waves beat, erode banks,
Eddies carry all leaves
Leaving them behind,
When river reaches plains
Waves mellowed enriches soil
brought from far off lands,
Before joining great ocean.
Author notes
River in motion reflects life, Purify itself as it flows

I was mesmerized
by the movement of the picture. Now I have to concentrate!
I like how your poem describes the growth and development of a river and turns it into a metaphor for life. I am getting quite placid!
One thing, "Where does trough and crest gone" - where do they go.
Best of luck, this is a good poem.
