Standing on the hill top
Overlooking the blue sea
I see the white caps rolling
As they becken their waves to me
Walking down the hill side
I reach the sandy beach
Take off my shoes and shorts
Jump into the waves so deep
The white caps are rolling rough
And they slap me almost down
Into the waves and crest
Almost giving me a white crown
So I think I'll stay on shore
Let the sea have her own way
She's much too rough for me
So I'll just call it a day
Author notes
When I was in my Teens I went swimming when the Lake was rough, or I tried to swim. I let the Lake have her own way and just picniced on the shore. This was Lake Erie. I never forgot how forceful the high waves could be.

It is amazing how big the waves can really be on a lake, it was something I thought when I first moved to Florida - it almost seems as if they can be as violent as the ocean.

Lake Erie is more dangerous to ships than the ocean!
A true life experience. A pleasing read. Thank you for sharing
