I had two men
two too many
married to one
connected to the other.
What used to be
with my husband and me
was what was with my boyfriend.
But today
it all changed,
today I committed MAN slaughter.
I had had it with my husband
I told him where he could go
and he could take his
non-feeling, non-intimacy and drug use
with him.
I had had it with my boyfriend
I told him where he could go
and he could take his
secrets, lies, fakeness
with him.
I had two men
two too many
and now it's me
I call myself
honey.
Author notes
I used to write poetry constantly waaay back in the day and then it just stopped. Today was a crazy day (as u can read in the poem) and this poem just came out of me from all of it. Yes it is a true story.

Good depth, emotion in this honest write.
No offense, but you didn't sound like you had 'men' - just little boys who hadn't matured. And I'm glad to know you tossed them both back into their playpens and concentrated on yourself and your worth. I hope you meet the right person - a mature person who is trustworthy...
best wishes

I love the "I call myself honey" it ties the poem up so nicely and is such a nice quote to boot

Boys are stupid anyways. Seriously. It's so much more liberating when you don't have any sort of romantic attachment. Sweet, sweet freedom! And no, I'm not just saying this to respond to your poem. I've had this thought for the better part of a year by now.
Hope it doesn't offend you, but the last few lines sound like...masturbation? ><

I guess life finally got a wee bit too crowded and you reached the point to where you have decided you were spreading yourself too thin and leaving nothing of substance for the one who really matters - YOU! I feel your thoughts. I see you are new to Allpoetry, Welcome Aboard! I hope you find us to be all you hoped for. If you need any help, please feel free to contact any greeter or moderator online. In the meantime, keep that pen handy and the ink flowing!
