Phantom Girl

A monitor beeps as if it were giving a body life,
It seems to be living itself. It’s simply not the case.
A body that is sitting there lifeless in the here,
But she's alive in the here-after.

The girl was once called Phantom,
She never existed in the world of others.
She was a rebel in life and in death.
This is the legacy she left behind.

Phantom must've been young when her body died.
No sign of wrinkles anywhere upon the face of a former life.
The storied people told of her were different than her appearance,
It told of a soul that was older than time itself.

The girl almost never spoke in life,
Although in death she never is quiet.
Those who are left behind say they hear laughter,
Coming from the room she once inhabited.

This Phantom girl now is living the life she never had,
Beyond the grave and into the minds of those of the living.
The minds she now plays within,
Is her immortality

Too watch someone living on life support is an experience you will never forget. My husband's father was on life support a year ago this past September we rushed to say goodbye before his Mom pulled the plug, standing there by Dad I knew he was not in his body anymore and was hoovering above us watching trying to let us know that he was at peace now. Dad did not even look like himself, I will never forget seeing him like this. Thanks for sharing this amazing write into the person behind life support.

Again Happy Birthday have a wonderful day! hugs Theresa
