Fate and Reason

I wake up tired with a tear in my eye
Maybe it’s today, maybe today I will die

I wonder lonely through the darkness
Searching for peace and answers
To questions that surprise me,
That I didn’t know existed

Is there a point to getting out of bed?
Going to work, and being fed?
Is there a point to any of this?
Writing this poem and sharing a kiss?

Perhaps I’m just, naive and stupid
But who should I listen to?
Who should I trust?
My head’s all messed up with people and places
So many people, but all with blank faces

I fall asleep hungry
With a tear on my face
Maybe it’s tomorrow
Someone will take my place

I apologise profoundly for the delay in judging. I had some serious health issues to deal with and, for reparation I will be sending each participant some points by way of sincere apology. Thank you for your entry.

So many profound, and thought provoking questions asked here; and im not sure we'll ever know the answers.

I did liek the way you wondered would today be the day - and then came to the conclusion that no it wouldn't be, but that someone else took your place; interesting - reminded me of a recent episode of home and away!

    Nice job

    Nice write...

This reminds me of a song, but I can not remember the title... I know there's a line in the song that says, "...and it always makes me cry"

You ask so many simple questions that require profound answers. I'm sure many of us ask them regularly. You've penned this well. Good luck in the contest!
