I remember long ago
When I was just a child
Summer nights that seemed to glow
And drive my feelings wild
Summer days were Oh! So bright
Always there was something new
To fill my being with delight
Always there were things to do
Children playing all together
Rounders, running races
Glorious sunny weather
Smiling happy faces
Picnics in fields of clover
Swimming in the river
Though these times are over
The memories never wither
Sometimes the memory is just there
It hits me in the face
Other times I’m not aware
I can’t recall a time or place
If every memory was a bubble
And followed me from place to place
I would be cushioned from all trouble
And always would be safe
If you ever have the pleasure
To go down memory lane
I hope you’ll find some joys to treasure
Then you’ll take that trip again
