Bad Wolf

The parting of the ways,
The girl of golden sunshine,
It was her all this time,
Who had stolen my soul.

I thought I'd never understand,
Her kindness and compassion,
A defenseless human,
With such courage and bravery.

That wild and infectious smile,

And those tears she shed for me,

Doomsday that tore my world apart,

Her eyes filled with terror...

The day I almost lost her,

I felt a piece of me had passed away,

Now she is unreachable,

The TARDIS cannot take me to her.

My time machine that translates all,

All except her...

Her language was for me to decipher,

After all these years a new challenge.

If only Gallifry had not been obliterated,

I would have taken her there,

To the citadel in the clouds,

To see the amber crystallised buildings.

We could have lived so happy there,

If only I didn't live forever,

Safely in the protection of the Lords,

And we may never have been seperated.

Her song that echoes in my mind,

Her voice that calls for me,

Even though we cannot be together,

She cries out for me...

My irreplaceable partner,

My heart's that pine for her,

The one who is lost,

The girl who died for me...

OMG, that is so touching and brilliant! I'm such a fan of Doctor Who! Rose Tyler dies in the end? How sad! ='(
But I liked it that you said love is a language even a translator can't decipher. That is so true! Good luck in this contest! =D

I love this!! I'm a huge Dr.Who fan (and am devastated that DT is leaving), this poem is a delight and brilliantly written.. Thank you so much, I'm so glad I found it.. Btw, I was always so jealous of Rose..

    • awww thank you so much for the lovely comment.. I'm gutted David's leaving...mmmm so yummy and perfect for the part..I don't think much of Matt as a choice tbh. If David's gotta leave - vote Richard Hammond!!

p.s I too was always of Rose especially in the finally of series 4

      Thanks again xxxx

Brilliant write, Rose would be forever in your debt if she only knew. I really enjoyed reading this as I have been a Dr Who fan for xxx years and it first began. A bit difficult for those who do not know the programme though - but for those of us who do know of it, a terrific piece of writing, well done.

I think Billy Piper was a fantastic companion. She had this realness about her.,,the kind of authenticity that can inspire poetry such as this. I am a big Doctor who fan so I was immediately drawn to this piece with the Bad Wolf reference and all. The girl absorbed the time vortex, that takes balls, and ovaries.
Thanks for the Doctor who read!

free verse is as much of a challenge as structured verse... do you think as an exercise you could rewrite this in structured verse? i would like to read an attempt.

if i had time I would, I have a lot of assignment work in my studies atm..might attempt it tho, as I think it would be interesting to read in re-written as a structered piece.

Ooh, well, before I go back for my second read, I'll stick my hand up now and admit that I've never seen a Dr. Who related program, or episode, or, in fact, know anything about him xDD

    For that reason, much of this didn't mean anything to me personally, for example, "TARDIS, Galifry" etc, however that opening stanza, I really, really, enjoyed;

    "The parting of the ways,
    The girl of golden sunshine,
It was her all this time,
    Who had stolen my soul."

I think ti's because the meter was mostly the same; noe one line has more than seven syllables in it, and to be honest, I think it would be fantastic if you took this verse away yourself, and wrote an unrelated poem using it, concentrating on the metre - it was the one verse that really stood out for me here; so descriptive in regards to the girl, and loved the reference to sudden realisation as though the narrator had been in denial all this time.

Sorry I can't be of more help; my lack of knowledge fails me

This was beautifully done about the Doctor and Rose.
    Thank you for this.

I love the Dr. Who shows, guess, I am just, someone that does not belong here.
