Ocean of Sadness

It’s filled with their tears,

It’s filled with the embodiment of their greatest fears,

How can you live with yourself?

Swimming in the ocean of their sadness?

Color changing slowly from sea-green to red,

I think they’re dead…

You know they’re dead,

Yet you swim with joy

Morality means nothing to you,

Human suffering does not affect you,

The sight of you repulses me,

It hurts me to know that there's nothing I can do.

You make me want to cry,

You make me want to die,

You make me want to leave this world of emptiness,

...I hear their screams...

They’re trapped,

trapped in their own ocean of sadness,

They want so bad to be free,

Are you that cruel?

Do you enjoy the un-necessary death of the innocent?

I promise I’ll shed my tears of sadness in the ocean with you,

I seem to know nothing else to do,

Bearers of wicked, needless pain,

(If it’s any consolation)

I'm sorry for what you're going through...

Sadness smears ... the piece speaks to the reader that you have such an oceanic soul ... a soul that rises in beauty and descends quickly into darkness.

"You make me want to cry,
You make me want to die,
You make me want to leave this world of emptiness,
    ...I hear their screams... "

It's like a dream, a nightmare that one cannot awake from ... I impressionably love this piece because it can be taken into many different situations of the reader's choice ...

hummmm.... not sure if i understand this one. Who is the You.... that you keep referring to? Just thought I would ask since the whole poem is focused on this one person yet I have no idea who this person is.

You used imagery very well here tho and all in all I did like the poem even tho I did not know who you were referring to.

    Thanks for entering my contest.

Excellent imagery and emotions of one that has cruelity running through their veins. I also enjoyed the duality of this piece which makes the reader ponder!
    Nicely done!
My best to you in this contest!

Beautifully written! For some reason, it feels like you're writing about someone whose under Hitler, and how it pains you to see this through. Somehow, this poem entices me to pray, pray for a better future. Nice!
