makes it easy to sit and write.
They twinkled every time you smiled
and nothing ever got you riled.
It's you who gave the sun its shine,
you made starlight look so divine.
You made this world a better place,
a treasure to the human race.
Somehow; some way we did connect,
two decades plus in retrospect.
Sweet memories of laughter shared
reminds us all of how you cared.
So John we'll never say good-bye,
thinking of you we'll look on high.
And when the sky has rainbows bright,
we'll think of you and be alright.

Dear, dear Abigail, of course I remember you. Thank you so much for your lovely words of praise and the applauses also. If you had known our friend John you would know how special this write was to me. His brother-in-law read it at the church not long after the funeral during a gathering for those who have just lost someone close. Our friend Dolores was unable to read it as she is so lost without her other half. Thank God she has a big family to help her and friends who will always be there for her. I hope you are well. Love and God bless you always, Joyce

that shows how good people can make the world a better place....and the words reveal the intimate relationship becoming closer when missing ...the person who gave the sun its shine needs to be immortalised in words like this ..the rhyme is also very appreciable...nice poem

Linda, John was one person who made life worth living for all. I bawled my eyes out when I got the call from our friend Dolores and I am still so sad that God chose him before his time. I wish he took me before John. It's never fair and I just want Dolores to have him back so much so. Thank you for the applauses and your loving words. You are the greatest!
Love you sis, Joyce

The final stanza about brought tears to my eyes. This is a beautiful piece in memory of your dear friend, so soon in his tragic passing. I've away from AP for much of the summer, and I'm happy to read your works again!

It is good to have you back, Joyce, even with a sad poem like this. Lovely rhymes, and great flow, as can always be expected from you.
I recently wrote a poem, called "Too Late", which you may like. Hope you are back to stay this time, Joyce. AllPoetry is not the same without you, you know!
Hugs to you and Jeff, from the Henriksen trio.
