my first poetry book
"Blood and Ink" was released
Turning thirty six
was a touching gift
because of my disease
Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis
when I was three months old
I wasn't expected to live
They gave my parents a year
but I survived the harsh
and then, when I was four
I snuck out of the house
and was playing behind the car
when my dad backed over me
Again, kissing the face of death
and living through the tragedy
once again, my life was spared
I grew up and became a Chef
and also, a published poet
and today, I turned thirty seven
I no longer can keep a job
for my health and sickness
but I still hold sweet memories
Author notes
THis is the short version of my life...there was alot more fun and interesting things...

First off, I am glad that you made it through all of your heartache and sadness growing up. I know how you feel, I was once strickened with a disease and wasn't expected to live very long as a child. Like you, I outgrew it and count everyday as another blessing. I wish you all the best in life and thanks a lot for sharing this one here. Congratulations on your trophy!

Wow... I had no idea!
I would love to hear more about your life... any time you are welcome to send me messags with little tidbits and stories.
How fascinating! You are so peaceful, grateful, and ... just a bigger person than I would be.
I am very thankful you survived. I'm sorry about your illness and how it has affected your life... but you are stronger than anyone I know and I'm so proud of you!
Let me know how to order your book, friend!

thank you for this touching portrait of not only surviving but truly living.

I like your attitude! That you focus on the good things you've had rather than the adversity! Having had much myself I can understand how hard that can be sometimes.. but it's the only way to go!
Great poem, keep up the good work!

Well, it's interesting; it lacks imagery (or maybe I'm just not a fan of this style) but it's well-written, and i applaud the fact that you're still alive after all that. Happy birthday!

This is just a testament to the greatness that is you. You've done it, lived through it, and you've made it far alive. I think you're one of the bravest people I know. You have my support, my love, and my applause, in this life-and the next, right?
Happy birthday again, I'm glad you liked my present
