Elaina

Sweet and funny Lanie Grace,
graceful body, pretty face.
Joy flows out from in your heart
into your music and your art.
Quick to laugh and fast at learning;
beyond your years of life discerning.
Youngest daughter -- all adoring;
ever witty, never boring.

I'm so glad I had another
and you weren't a baby brother.

Author notes

A few years ago, I wrote poems for each of my 3 oldest daughters, Heather, Natalie and Caroline. Lanie was still a baby, so I wanted to wait to see how her personality developed. She's turning into a wonderfully unique person as she approaches her eighth birthday.

Please tell me what you think

    I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!

    Oh, you don't like boys? I am just kidding, I know what you mean, because it she had been a boy, she wouldn't be who she is. A lovely poem about your children. They are gifts from God aren't they.

    Very Nice Tribute!

    So very good to see you again! I thought you'd given the old haunt up permanently! Throw my XXX's and OOO's on top of Hugh's!

    Dear Jenny,

    As a proud adoring mother,
    great to see you pen another
    piece of your poetic art
    written from a grateful heart.
    Children are life's greatest treasure
    adding riches above measure.
    Maybe born a little late,
    now she's coming up to eight
    so, dear Lanie, may I say:
    "HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY!"

    Applause for your poem and for sharing,
    Love and hugs from Aotearoa,
    Kia ora e aroha nui. XXX Hugh.
