Difting away,
our childhood fades,
that care free life,
our memories frayed.
How I wish now,
I could go back home,
my soft warm bed,
and sins unknown.
But I still recall,
that old yard swing,
it's soft quiet squeaks,
and the joy it would bring.
With friends in the yard,
we play in the rain,
how I wish now,
to feel it again.
Author notes
I've lost my childhood... the most precious time of our lives, not a care in the world... gone.

I love this poem.
Its sad, but it's so touching! -
I love this poem, it reminds me of the times I had as a child that were good. My grandpa had a swing set up for us that I would play on for hours alone or otherwise, some of my favorite memories. I think this piece will speak to everyone who reads it. Good luck with your contest!

Great picture to go with a finely crafted poem, nostalgic and regretful feelings coming through clearly... made me remember a swing set my dad the plumber made from pipes when we were very small... thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest.
