Did Newton really find the fig,
did it hit him from a tree
Then why did the that apple steal its fame,
for relativity
There more than just a cookie,
to some a way of life
The Italians eat them just like candy,
slicing them with a knife
Gooey, soft and sticky,
with their taste so sugary sweet
You will find them in better pastries,
we all love to eat
The answer to the burning question,
that we’ll fig-ure out in time
Did you like my poem about the fig;
written in a rhyme

This one made me chuckle. Lovely light touch here, Rick and I liked the reference to Newton....good question you're asking there as figs are actually lush and sensual fruit. Guess the apple stole the limelight with Adam and Eve, lol.
Loved the sense of humour here - nicely done. thank you for this entry.

the rhyming tempo is off in places, but fun to read, regardless
i once met Newton, and he said he was smokin a joint when all that shit went down.
he tried to explain over beers and pizza, but i never did get the connection

Naughty me. I finished reading with a laugh. Yes it is the first time I have ever seen a rhyming poem written about a fig. Best to you fine poet.
