Of Claret Caresses

Missing image

Sunset's sangria sipped in slow savory seconds,

the sanguine rays streaming over the soul,

its claret caresses soothing in warm and serene strokes.

Calm flows as a burgundy through the heart

stirring a tranquility from the port tinted radiance,

summoning sweet cherries of euphoria during the ebbing light

as the day slips into a sea of ruby reflections.

Twilight stretches in the lingering shades of crimson,

being a portent to scarlet dream scarves

draping one's slumber

in the heated red visions

that simmer the blood as a hope's wine,

drenching the mind in rose hues of sunrise promises.

Silently surrendering to the lure of maroon shaded moods,

their garnet stained spell serving as elation's stew,

lasting in the senses as a cinnamon

spicing life's casserole.

Night swallowing the sway

of Chianti droplets in peace,

still feeling its affects intoxicate

while soaking deep inside,

making that dusk imbibed

a moment of Cabernet bliss.

Wow! You have more than double the comments I have made. Now I don't feel so bad . This poem is gorgeous. The imagery is magnificent, but the subtle alliteration makes it lyrical. All the different shades of red are worked in smoothly. Thanks for entering.

Wow...beautiful. Red is such a powerful color.

You used lots of poetic tools here-- very professional sounding. It was just amazing to read, and the imagery was almost hypnotizing.

Wonderful job. Thank you for entering.
