DAD
Before me lies an honest man
Who I have known since my time began
Never one for cheer or fear
Or rarely chat bar twice a year
I’d fell from the path and I’d lost my way
“I’ll guide you back” I heard him say
Uncertain and cautious I’d spoil for a fight
Your word to guide me to show me the light
My world is now shallow and through empty space
I close my eyes to look at your face
The lessons you taught me the advice that you gave
The hours of honor I’ll weep at your grave
You passed on and left me without a goodbye
The feeling of sadness the tears in my eye
So sudden you passed now I’m feeling sad
The tears that I shed for my wonderful Dad

wow... so sad... im so sorry for your loss... your da sounds like a wonderful person... then again you sound like a wonderful son to have written a piece as emotional and beautiful as this about him. not too many guys on here will write about tears they shed... i think its great you opened your heart up in this way... it adds to the poem and shows a lot about you as a person,

Sometimes looking back is a very painful reminder but it also serves as a good teacher as well. You express yourself freely and without abandon, I admire that in a writer. Your thoughts are a true reflection of the heart and soul within you. Nice work here!
