A daughter lost through misunderstanding and pride
left me saddened and careworn, curled up inside,
never thinking resolution would come our way
life took different paths as I walked on in dismay.
Although there was much to keep life so full
many a time in loneliness my heartstrings would pull,
for there's nothing so empty as losing a child
from the moment of birth their whole essence beguiles.
What kept me afloat were the words of wise friends
telling me that our relationship would never end,
alongside heavy heart was a glimmer of hope
and somehow with each day and God's love I managed to cope.
Not knowing her whereabouts and no way to find out
I had to wait for some contact while living in doubt,
seven years it took before we would meet up again
only then would we both be relieved of much pain.
That day her voice called rendered me with great joy
for then did I realise we would not be destroyed,
it takes two to seperate but also two to unravel
before as one down life's road they can once again travel.
Author notes
We are best friends but it takes time to completely resolve past hurts. Never give up!

This seems like such a personal piece. In fact by the author notes it must be. I am glad you have made ammends. Life is to short to live with unhappiness. Best to you in the contest and life.
