A hidden past lingers
Behind closed doors called eyes.
Nobody sees through the curtains
That surround the mind.
Painfully long nights of darkness
Are all that can be remembered.
The rest is a fog,
A cloud held still by the thickness of air.
Silence can not be broken.
Darkness can not be penetrated.
No moon. No stars.
Nothing but the darkness of the past.

Dark and intense.
This had me gripped from the first word!
