I hunt for the need to survive
I hide to live
I grow weary of tresspassers
I attack out of instinct
They seek me for my pelt
They pursue me for the hunt
They kill for claw
They kill for teeth
I run
They follow
Survive to live
Live to survive
I hide to live
I grow weary of tresspassers
I attack out of instinct
They seek me for my pelt
They pursue me for the hunt
They kill for claw
They kill for teeth
I run
They follow
Survive to live
Live to survive

I enjoyed reading this again!
I remember it from the contest I hosted. You won honorable mention! Congratulations and thank you for posting this great poem on our animal lover's page! It is so sad and very true; how tigers are exploited - and they only want to survive like everything else does!

-
an excellent write for the prompt. most don't think about the tiger. it's a tragedy that they are gradually disappearing from this world through no fault of their own and you summed this up perfectly in the last couple of lines.
"Survive to live
Live to survive"
this just speaks so much, not just for the tiger but for all animals. keep writing poet! thank you for sharing your talent with us. God bless you always

What a beautiful write, hon, and so true.. Even today the big cats are still hunted for fur, claws and teeth.. Because we are human and we are ignorant and we use any excuse to take what we want.. Then when we have caused the extinction of such noble creatures, we cry and say we're sorry, we didn't mean for it to happen.. But we never stop..

Wow
You really described the life of a tiger well. It is a tragedy that they are steadily disappearing from this world through no fauly of their own and you summed this up perfectly in the last couple of lines. : )

Nice
You almost described perfectly the dilemna of the tiger in your short but succinctly-to-the-point poem.
That they only hunt to survive; attack out of instinct; are relentlessly pursued and killed for their pelts, teeth, claws and other parts for "medicinal" purposes. In China they are entirely unashamed of what is being done to the tiger there. Hunted and exploited to extinction; and now they are resorting to "tiger farms" to keep the unethical business practice alive.
Your final words sum it up;
"I run
They follow
Survive to live
Live to survive "
It is like there is no escape for the tigers. No place to run anymore and no where to hide.

"Survie to Live, Live to Survive."
These finishing lines were very strong and wraps up the meaning of a Tiger's life well.
Thankyou for sharing this wonderful write, I wish you the very best of luck in this contest and thankyou for being apart of it.
For the Animals always,
Love and light. -
Good you know that one of my favourite animals are tigers. I like mostly all of the carnivores like cheetahs. Sad and true cause sometimes this is what happens to a tiger. I heard about using tigers as medicine. Wish you good luck in the contest.

This is powerful and sad. Sad because it is so true. Tigers are hunted for their pelt and every litte part of them that can be sold. Their rarity makes them so valuable but I don't know how anyone can put a price on a life, animal or human.
Best of luck in the contest!
Ellie
