Hope Drifts On The Dreams Of Night

gosshawk soars into yonder sky
carrying the dreams of you and I

wishes whittled to dreary wonder
teasingly tango around the thunder

sanctuary shines amid fading light
utopian kisses unleashed to flight

floating over fields freshly hewn
enveloped by loves enchanting tune

destiny draws this heart of mine
deep within my dreams divine

so with these dreams I must elope
and pray these words of night bring hope.

Author notes

Just a poem to hopefully place a smile on Wanda's (Night Hope's) face for her Birthday. Many happy returns my friend.

    "sanctuary shines amid fading light
    utopian kisses unleashed to flight

    floating over fields freshly hewn
    enveloped by loves enchanting tune"

These lines struck me the most, although the entire poem was quite lovely, thoughtful & perceptive. Thank you for coming by to honor my 50th; I'm pretty impressed, even if no one else is. Especially since I've been on my own & writing poetry for 35 of those years. It's been a "long & winding road", to be sure, but it's a journey I'd gladly take again (although with a few detours & longer stops at some places). Thank you for your kindness in penning this piece, Poet. Good luck in Carol's contest.
