No Glass Slippers Below Stoned Hems

Missing image

She ruches midnight velvet
by candlelight

a holy soft sheen for such holy rite

tuck and fold
pinned by stars

appliquéing silver threads
from heart to hem

batwing sleeves unbinding
where amber round-eyed gems
ride ebb and flow of cloth
like seeing eyes

bodice draped to hide scars
on milky way skin
where moon slips its pale hand
to hold heave still

attached cowl hood
like bride’s train
made wide and ready,
heavy enough to hold back straight
until shroud of sudden clouds
is needed to hide within

skirt swishing ground
like slow lap of waves
weighted down with stony secrets
she would take with her
when she left the ball
before staccato strike
of her midnight

no slip of glass slippers
would bring them soon enough
to stop jangle of gems’ joy
of going home

There is always one for whom the fairy godmother is a myth. There is always those for whom the magic of love is a silence betrayed. Strangers to the promise of delight, they walk their course in service to life and accept the time and then walk out the door a reflection of how they passed through from birth. Stunning work.

wow, this is a very haunting mix of fairytale custuming with the idea of going home in death - I never thought about creating a shroud like one would a ballgown or a wedding dress. It gives a very beautiful comfort to think of the ruches of velvet and silver threads adorning her in her journey.

Oh I do love this one...
The title lured me in since I am a big Cinderella lover...(WHat a surprize, eh? lol )
This is amazing as always, Such metaphor and imagery that just takes me away to the scene you pen...

Love this...and I am not giving up the one glass slipper
