Where Lies the fine thread?

Love of loss brings all but pain,
And fear of pain brings naught but it.
So where lies the fine thread between,
Which differs these two of extremes?

Really nice. Fear of pain brings only pain, for love cannot thrive in an environment but fear. Kind of like the bible verse "Perfect love casts out fear.." I'm not all that religious but I remember that one from Sunday School.

And the ending is nice, ties it all together. The language is ornate and poetic but a little hard to understand at times. But the poem is worth puzzling over, for it is profound and really quite beautiful.

    Thanks for entering!

Had to read it twice to get it.

I like it though. Now I get it.

It's kinda clever. And yes, a good question! Hope you find the asnwer!

      Kinda?

Pray tell how can I make it REALLY clever ?

lol. Thanks. Appreciate your comments on my poems. But fact is that I have so many questions floating around that I never have enough time to answer them all. That's why I write them down and put them up for others to answer.

I've given up on this one...I'm hoping that further on in life Experience will be gracious enough to gift me with the answer...

I like its questioning nature.....and the double meaning in the title depending on perception. I understand your patterns of thought here, but the end result of the first line confuses me a little..I think it may be looking at limited aspects of the subject -and there's nothing wrong with that.
..a controversial thought provoking write and a good distraction from a poem that just made you cry yourself to death ....-so thanks.
    A good read.

      Thanks

I didn't script the title with a double meaning in mind...but it's nice that you found one. Care to tell me?

I don't understand what you mean about the first line...I meant it in the sense of that 'those who love pain or search for it, never find it (because they...figure it out based on your own perception )'

How do you think I could break free of the 'limited aspects'. Not that I'm going to change the poem...but I'd like to learn more about the subject. I never did answer the question...although I posed it.

I completely understand that line, now my perception was way out and there's not much point in explaining it.
I didn't mean limited aspects in a negative way, I meant in the way of focussing in on certain outcomes, which is more effective than skimming broad surfaces in the horrible way that I tend to do. Also, I know nothing, so please don't listen to me lol .

        My views are obscure, irrelevant.

One could always try being spontaneous, and going against plans, logic, instinct ect...but you're right, if you're sane, you will inevitably, if subconsciously go with thought and avoid pain. Deep write.

Have a look at the rest of mine if you want.

Almost all the rest of my poems are short 4 liners. I prefer them as they instigate thought in the reader, yet allow them the freedom of thought. Long enough to portray the message, short enough to be unobtrusive.

Thanks for the drop-in. I'll look into one of your works tomorrow, when hopefully I'm a bit less crabby and have less of a headache. Send me a message if there's a specific poem you want me to read.

I like this alot, very nicely sketched and put into words. Very true, the feelings the loss of a love are pain and I wonder same as you, where lies the fine thread between. That was my fav line (third).

      Thanks

It's nice that you liked it, and however you perceived it, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Just want to say that the first line isn't stating 'Loss of Love'. Its not talking about losing a love. Its talking about loving loss, or loving pain and misery. Its referring to the fact that if you look for pain, you'll never find it, because...figure it out using your own views .

But thanks for you feedback. Appreciated.
