keeps staring through my soul
I'm starting to wonder if
it's plotting mutiny against
societal constraints
Tired of conforming to
expectations set by others
idealogy. This ashen feline
mocks my movement with a
few tilts of her head
It's curious how she's
always there, right when
I go outside, for my afternoon
smoke, or when I'm leaving
to go for a drive
She's green with envy, or
is that just the color
of her eyes?
She's poised and graceful
and her mannerism does
not leave me at ease
She stretches and yawns, giving
me a peek at sharepened claws,
not knowing how quick she could
get across this lawn, I pace and
plot - I know I'm being stalked
A giant in my own right, compared
to this furry revolutionary - I
still can't shake the notion
that her stares are predatory
Author notes
prompt: "precious and amusing and unutterably bizarre"
True story. Every time I go outside, this damn cat is staring at me. But don't worry I'm not as paranoid as this poem is =)

Very good vocabulary and imagery. I can almost feel her eyes on me. She reminds me a little of the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. Also, a wonderful characterization of animals as revolutionaries is the movie and story Animal Farm. Enough of the references though. A beautifully eerie poem. Thank you for your entry.

many situations in life lead us to feel this way ... though this story even in overdone drama is a great piece of art ... thanks for sharing!!!

Haha this is cool. Cats trip me out, they can be either the most amazing pets on earth, or creatures straight out of the pit of hell. Crazy kitties.

Oh I can relate to this! We have a black cat that lives next door known as 'the devil cat' that is pure evil, it regards everyone with such a look of disdain as though we are all unworthy. It wanders into our house, jumps up on the side and sits licking it's lips next to the hamster cage

Well done on winning the silver trophy, well deserved

I really like this poem
the idea is hilarious and I really like the exaggeration of real life - I can imagine my cat stalking someone like this
she is really great at stalking cobwebs
I really like the title of this poem and the character that you have created for the cat - thank you for your entry!
Keep writing
