Sky a kaleidoscope of color with island that dot
the bay. Cove shoreline mixed with sandy beach,
tree and flowering shrub. Helen Steiner Rice
quote-Great is the power of might and mind
But only love can make us kind
And all we are and hope to be
Is empty pride and vanity
And if love is not a part of all
The greatest man is very small
Spray painted on the block wall under street
where homeless live masked in poverty
The artist, a young man stumbles to the wall and
catch reflected street light as he quivers
to stab needle into a vein. His miracle
warms the mind and his blank stare invade
soul as eyes flutter in relief. The old woman
watch and sips on a pint bottle, shakes
her head and pats the dog curled up in
the sleeping bag with her. She scoots
from her bed and stumble close to the wall
to squat as wet runs on her feet.
A parade offer discarded hot dog and
leftover fries. Thoughts without emotion,
beauracrats get pay raise as those entitled
to social security wait for check that never
come. Life isolated as exposure in natures freeze
warp her to an unknown cardboard hovel she calls home.
Pulls the dog closer to share warmth.

That is a very touching write! I really felt the emotion that came from seeing into the life of someone less fortunate! Wonderfully done!

So Heartfelt
This was a very sad but very true glimpse into how sad life is for some people. It is ashame it has to be that way in this rich nation of ours. Always a pleasure my friend to read your words. This one touches the heart. Wonderful imagery. Best of luck in the contest. Take care,
Sandy
