Transcendental Soul

Missing image

Stage lights cast

an eerie glow

as he makes love

to his guitar,

beads of sweat drip

onto strings

as he pours himself

into the moment

notes with no lyrics

float off into the air,

like incense

in paisley patterns

and after

a long set of

infatuating melody,

he ends his performance

with these fitting

soulfully

sung words,

"Even blue skies, burn sometimes."

Author notes

Option two, phrase prompt by 'Checkmate' "even blue skies burn sometimes."

I'm a BB King fan, so this phrase kind of struck me as bluesy.
The photo is of course the great BB King himself as a much younger man back in the day.

I've missed reading your poetry while you were away and this was the first thing I saw this morning. It's beautiful and filled with soulful thoughts that held me enthralled from the first line to the last.

    Best wishes in the contest.

I love B B King! Your poem is sheer genius, and refelctive of his soulful spirit.

I once worked with Robert Jr. Lockwood who says he taught B B King how to play the guitar. Mr. Lockwood also made me notice that, as he said; "B B King is tone death, and does not play, and sing at the same time". It's true! Check him out in a live performance and see for yourself.

Mr. Lockwood also said that the original "Lucille" was burned in a house fire, and the one he has now is the second guitar. Yup heard it from the legends mouth, personally.

Sigh! My dear friend died around my birthday last year.

Great work! I wish you the best in the Comp!

    Much Love ♥
