scorn worn
face of contempt
masked leaves
of antiquity
silence rustled
bent slender stems
indecision
never swallowed

"49 reasons, all in a line. all of them good ones, all of them lies."
personally, i thought the 'don't pass out' sign at the door overcompensated for the barkeeps lack of enthusiasm.
i, too, have choked on indecision

I had visions of a shriveled fig on the ground while reading this poem... a summer gone. Lovely brevity and so much said in so few words. A melacholic feel about the poem and the closing lines really wrap it up so very well.
Thank you for this entry.

My uncle had a fig trre in his yard but it seemed the squirrles got to the figs before we ever got a chance to taste them.
I feel a sadness here as if the wait for Autumn has finally transpired and those things of nature know they are headed for certain death.
I wish you well in the challenge.
Much Love ♥

You do brevity beautifully and this has the sad feel of a sweet fig waiting to fall or be picked...sadly some never see the opportunity before it is too late.
