My room mate going downtown,
Picked up a bottle from the path,
He said 'someone was pissed'
And about to smash it
I screamed out 'Don't!!!'
It was my daughters,
I recognised it from the car,
She must have discarded it before going home
to her adoptive mother
She got in trouble anyway,
Next thing I knew she was in Brisbane but OK,
Then I got the phone call honey
saying you had killed yourself
I tried to go to your funeral,
Got more police charges,
Public nuicance,
Shows how much heart the cops have
I was taken to hospital
where the security guards just didn't understand,
I missed your funeral
but my heart is with you always
I rang lifeline and told them,
One woman had an idea,
That I hold my own ceremony for you,
And I will, with your bottle,
The last thing you touched and tasted

no words can describe the pain of losing anyone you love. lucy was only 17. the only thing i can hold close to my heart is our last words to each other were loving ones. the reason i missed her funeral was i turned up but had a nervous breakdown as i was walking in the door of the church and they wouldnt let me in and took me to hospital. im sorry for your loss

what a terrible situation! I hope this was just a poem, and not something that actually happened! but if it was, I hope you dont blame yourself. You did your best to be there. Good luck in the contest :-)
