In the blink of an eye

You are wisked away,
Never to return again,
To the safety of your home,
You were captured by the enemy,
Tortured until ready to talk.

But you wouldn't talk,
So they tortured you more,
You weren't going to betray those that you loved.
Their lives depend on you,
So you fought,
And fought,
And fought,
Never losing faith.

You hear fighting going on,
Above where you are being held,
You hear a door open,
To the far end of the room,
You hear keys rattling,
And doors creaking open.

You peer through the bars,
As one with spiky hair,
And tan skin,
Helped the prisoners,
Out of their cells.

"Mariku!"
His head picks up,
And turns in your direction,
"Akari?"
You nod your head,
And he runs to you,
And unlocks your door.
You fly into his arms,
And he holds you there,
Your whole body shaking,
"Mariku... I missed you."

He looks at you,
With the whip lashings,
And the bruises on your arms and legs.
"What did they do to you?"
"It doesn't matter...You're here."
Your legs hurt to walk,
So he picked you up,
Everyone watched,
As the one who saved them,
Carried out the girl,
with so many bruises and lashings,
That they just followed behind quietly.

Once outside he told the others,
To head back to their homelands,
So they did.

"Akari, Are you going to be alright until we get home?"
"I'll be fine."
"Then hold on tight."
Akari grabbed him around the neck,
And held on as tightly as she could,
With the strength she had in her injured arms.

He ran at such speed,
That it was impossible,
To tell how fast he was going,
Without passing out.

Once inside their house,
Someone came up to them,
Akari fast asleep in Mariku's arms.

"Will she be alright?"
"I don't know. She got a lot of lacerations, and bruises."
"How much blood has she lost?"
"That I'm not sure of... But I replaced some of it on the way."
"Lay her down on the couch. I'll see what I can do."
Mariku layed his wife on the couch,
As instructed.

"What prison was she held in?"
"How am I supposed to know?"
"You got her out of it didn't you?"
"Yes."
"What was the name?"
"It was a weird one, I couldn't read it?"
"Mariku..."
They both looked at her on the couch,
Her head turning to the side,
To see who was talking to her husband.

It was a friend of theirs,
Tall, lanky, and he was always quite sarcastic.
"Kyo?"
"Akari," he says, giving a slight nod. "How are you feeling?"
"Fine. Where am I?"
"Home."
Akari smiles and lays her head back down.
"I'm home, Thank Ra."

Starting to sit up,
Mariku is quickly by your side,
"You should lay down, you're not fully healed yet."
Looking into his concerned eyes,
You do as asked,
Kyo walks over,
And sits down as well.

"Akari, who was it that took you away, and which prison were you held in?"
"Kyo, it happened so long ago, I can't even remember... I'm sorry."
"'Happened so long ago'. How long have you been held there?"
Akari tries to think back,
She had her own cell,
For she was valued,
The prisoner of the enemy,
And therefore had more info,
Than anyone else.

She tries to visualize her prison wall,
Where she kept track,
Of how long she was held there,
She visualized the little scratch marks,
She made on the wall,
That represented the months she was held there.

"7 months and 14 days."
They looked at her as she started to fall back asleep.
Kyo stood up,
Thinking about that information,
And then turned to Mariku.

"They may have gotten any type of information from her."
"I don't think that is so, look at all those lacerations. Akari wouldn't have been able to fight much longer before she died. She had LOST a good amount of blood. The cell she was in was wreaking of the smell."

"Are you sure?"
"I'm positive."
"How do you know?"
"Because they wouldn't have kept beating her if she had agreed to help them. When I got there, she was bleeding freely still. I healed the wounds and brought her home."

"I'll be back tomorrow. And Mariku, While she is sleeping make sure she doesn't slip into oblivion if you know what I mean."
"I won't let that happen. She is the world to me."

Kyo gave a firm nod and left the room.
Mariku looked at his wife,
And brought his forefinger up to her cheek,
Where she leaned into his touch.
She opened her eyes for him,
And smiled.

"I missed you so much, My love."
"And I, you. Now go to sleep, You're in safe hands and you know it."
"I love you."
"I love you too."

      Thank you.

I try my hardest when creating something like this... it is hard to come up with a poem, but even harder to make a poem that can be a story. Thank you for the praise you have given me and i hope to someday get at least some of this published.
