The shadow of someone who isn't... not anymore
A soul-shaped-hole in my tightly woven universe
Tricks of light play and flicker
into an aura around a baby's face
A memory shard splinters somewhere
and your shadow lays long on the floor
Dust in the rays of late afternoon
settle into footprints that aren't... not anymore
A heart-shaped-hole in my unraveling universe
The tragic game of "What If?"
spins round and round on the carousel of "If Only"
and I wonder what a Me-shaped-hole in the universe
would look like
but I don't have that luxury
I can't fade into the formless afterthoughts
of the living- I can't not be... not anymore

Thought provoking
This is a well written and thought provoking piece of work. I like the line 'A soul-shaped-hole in my tightly woven universe.' Excellent. I also enjoyed the lines 'The tragic game of What If? spins round and round on the carousel of If only'. Lovely play on words. Well done!

We are all pieces of the universe and pieces of those who came and went before us...bits of star dust, we will return with love and lessons and leave our soul print, a path... from where we came.
This is absolutely beautiful, bravo on this!

Coincidentally I just left a comment on your other poem and called it heart shaped poetry and here, here you shape the heart shaped soul. The void is felt along with the struggle to feel whole. Whilst the piece is introspective and delves deeply it draws breath to say no matter what, even if you don't think I matter I will remain as matter and it matters to me. Way to go, those shadows from the past will form different shapes tomorrow.
Thought provoking poetry.
