Solene

Missing image
~~~
When I am present,
you are
a familiar ochre
radiance
within the solar plexus;
breath that waves to
pounding sands,
dazzle shift
and
order my day.
You hold
the mystery of la lune;
the confluence
of hearts to my high seas,
I want for
your ebb
and wane…
the sweet glow,
a wax
that flows
in
and warms the core.
Paint my interiors
your seafoam green,
liven my corners
with the
laughter leaping
from breach of dolphins
and
crested cream.
You replace my
transparency of
utterance with
striking
eyes, sculpted arc,
and shimmering curl.
You sing
the spark of oceans’
love from the deep,
beneath myriads
of setting suns.
Dare to fathom
a reach
of unchartered waters;
bring
your
endless flow
to lap at these
  grateful shores.
I will be
your breakwater,
a shoal of solitude,
  a harbor,
…your faithful Gibraltar.
    This is a stellar poem that you have written here. The imagery that you used is stunning, the metaphors are absolutely great and the alliteration I saw here and there is a great touch of detail.
    Thank you for entering the contest!
    Well written Paul, is this the Solene of which many of us here are familiar?
    Smoothly and softly written.
      Yes, the 'HMS' Solene is Lane's shrimp boat. It seemed to fit as a title - the 'objet d'affection' being the pilot of that boat.
      Lane is the one who recommended me to you Buddy.
      Thank you for taking the time to read and comment.
    There is an endless romance between sea and shore, the yin and yang of them are fascinating. I like the last stanza very much, that image of strength (as in the photo) is attractive. I enjoyed the imagery, very evocative and clearly metaphoric.
    I love, love poems and this is really beautiful. Penned with grace and charm you express a love for natural beauty that we have been blessed with. I wish more people could "stop and smell the roses" like you do.
    Love,
    Amera♥
    A great poem Paul! a beautiful message of a connection of the elements of earth and water. The sense of strength that comes through the imagery, how could you not draw the tides to your shores, your harbors, your rock of Gibralter, You rock!
      Pat dear you are so kind. Yes you've interpreted my message loud and clear here. I am an earth sign and the object of affection has a clear link to the sea.
    this is one of your best, if not your best, I feel, I love this! - you've captured such a beautiful soft yellow feel here.
    "I will be
    your breakwater
    a shoal of solitude,
    a harbor,
    …your faithful Gibraltar."
    I love every stanza, but that last stanza leaves me with a sigh - this is so beautiful, Paul!
