what magic lies within
the written word
a journey to imagination's core
with seatmates whose
illuminating gifts
paint pictures that
movies boldly skew
an armchair trip to past
and future haunts
to realms existing in
ingenuity, populated by
hallucinations
inventive thoughts
interpreted at will
without the director's gauzy lens
adding his layer of conceit
words digested with thoughtfulness
as ruminations lead to observations
and knowledge begets wisdom

well done, perfect example why good writers make great readers.

Good work. I am not much for free verse, but this definently had a rhythm to me and I completely agree with the thoughts here.
It's a shame more people don't read books.
Keep writing.

WOW! You've got some fantastic metaphor usage here!! The imagery in this is vivid and clear. Line breaks make just the right "pause" in all the right places. Love where you took the prompt, as well. Your word choice is great, and definitely NOT cliche. Beautifully penned, my friend! Thanks so much for entering, and good luck.
